Samarth Jurel on shooting action sequences with asthma

“Managing asthma on set can be challenging, especially during action scenes. My grandmother also has asthma, so I grew up in a similar environment. When I was around 14 or 15 years old, I started playing cricket and gradually stopped using my inhaler. Instead, I turned to practicing yoga, which significantly improved my breathing. However, during shoots, there’s often a lot of dust, and unfortunately, Sometimes I have to resort to antibiotics, which can create additional challenges,” he said.

Samarth continued by saying, “I faced significant challenges while shooting a recent series in Kargil. The high-altitude environment and dust made it difficult. I made sure to cover my face and wear a mask at all times. As soon as my shot was done, I would immediately return to my tent to rest and recover.” However, Samarth mentioned that fortunately, he has not had any incidents where asthma significantly disrupted a shoot. “I hope it never does,” he added.

Samarth Jurel concluded by sharing a crucial piece of advice for his fellow asthma patients. He said, “Consistently practice yoga and focus on breathing exercises to strengthen your lungs. Additionally, work on your voice and stamina regularly to better manage the physical demands of action roles.”
